Breast Cancer Research Fund…
The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35. Breast cancer death rates are going down. This is probably the result of finding the cancer earlier and improved treatment. There are a number of good charities that support the fight against breast cancer. The Breast Cancer Research Fund’s mission is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for innovative clinical and genetic research at leading medical centers worldwide, and increasing public awareness about good breast health. A minimum of 85 cents of every dollar goes to research and awareness programs. This is way higher than some of the higher profile organizations.
So Others May Eat (SOME)…
No one in the United States should be faced with homelessness or starvation. SOME is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation’s capital. They meet peoples’ immediate daily needs of food, clothing, and health care. They help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness. Each day, SOME is restoring hope and dignity one person at a time. They are continually recognized for the excellent stewardship of funds donated to them.
Disabled American Veterans (DAV)…
Our country asks brave individuals to serve in our military, some of them become disabled. We all have a responsibility to support these individuals. DAV seeks to build better lives for American Veterans.
